This one gets strung up tomorrow. Madagascar from Colonial with a really nice adi top. Now, if Cedar Creek comes through with the case, I'll be in good shape.

Well, I put the strings on this morning. Really sweet. I always have a hard time describing tone, as it's very subjective, but this guitar is everything I thought it would be. I've only got about 30 minutes playing time on it, but so far, it's really nice. Better bass response than my usual Kasha braced guitars, without sacrificing the strongest traits of the Kasha system, those being a strong midrange, really clear trebles, and terrific sustain. For those who had asked, it is Kasha-braced, but it's not as big as it looks. Lower bout dimension is 16" and body length is 19.25". The round lower bout makes it look big, but it's actually a little smaller than a dreadnaught, but with more body volume. It's a very comfortable shape. Here are a few more pics.

Jimmy, first let me say what a baeutiful guitar you've built! This one is really sweet! What kind of neck joint are you using? The heel shape looks pretty small (BTW, I really like it) and I got to wondering if there was a mortice behind there, one bolt or two? Curious minds want to know. |

Jimmy - Great job! Both unique and beautiful at the same time. Can you post a closeup of the neck to body joint? I'm interested in your heel-less design, but particularly how you accomplished getting the sides to meet up and mathup right there. It appears, though vaguely, like you may have treated it in the same manner as the butt, with mitered purflings. Would definitely like to see that! I need to make it out to your part of Texas sometime soon and drop in on you. |

This shows the mortise in the neck block. My neck block is L-shaped and the neck tenon attaches with 4 cap screws through the tenon which is under the FB extension. There is also one bolt through the neck block into a threaded insert in the neck. That joint is a butt joint. The pic below shoes the tenon.
